Application-specific notes for FCI
- Block capitals are rejected outright as a signature. FCI states this apart from any file rule, so an image meeting every size and format requirement still fails when the name is printed rather than signed. Use the running hand you would use on a bank form.
- Alongside the photograph at 4.5 cm by 3.5 cm and the signature, a thumb impression is scanned and uploaded. Your photograph and biometric data are also captured at the examination centre and matched against what you submitted, so the uploaded image needs to be a current likeness.
- The thumb impression is taken with an ink stamp pad on plain paper rather than captured digitally, so it is worth doing before you sit down to fill the form. A smudged impression is the one element you cannot fix by editing, and re-doing it means finding an ink pad again.
- The photograph is stated as 4.5 cm by 3.5 cm, which is the same portrait proportion as 35 x 45 mm written height-first. Start from that shape, while still checking the current recruitment cycle's framing and background rules.
