India Passport Photo Maker
For an ordinary adult fresh/reissue application in India, Passport Seva captures your photograph and biometrics at the PSK/POPSK; you do not upload or carry a photo. This maker is useful for the 35×45mm white-background print required for a child below four, or when a separate overseas workflow asks you to prepare a photo.
Prepared for the published requirements of: Passport — child below 4 (printed photo), Passport — overseas ICAO photograph.

Before you upload — India photo preparation checklist
- A plain, evenly lit background to start (we apply the selected colour)
- Face the camera straight on, both ears roughly visible
- Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open
- A recent photo, taken within the last 6 months
- Shadows on your face or the wall behind you
- Glasses — remove them unless they're medically required
- Hair across the eyes, hats or caps
- Filters, beauty smoothing, or a cropped group photo
Get the head size right
For India, your face should fill 80–85% of the photo — the maker does this automatically, but here's what it should look like.
Correct head size
Too small / far away
Too close / cropped

Good to know
Ordinary adult fresh/reissue applicants in India are photographed at the PSK/POPSK and do not upload or carry a photo. The 35×45mm white-background print is for a child below four; overseas missions, OCI and Indian e-Visa use separate workflows.

Report outdated informationOrdinary adult applications use centre capture
Passport Seva says applicants attend the PSK or POPSK so their photograph and biometrics can be obtained there, and its visit guidance says a photograph is not required. The online form is used for the application and appointment; it is not an adult passport-photo upload.
The 35×45mm print is for a child below four
Passport Seva's fresh/reissue instructions require a minor below four to carry a recent 4.5×3.5cm (45×35mm) colour photograph with a white background. The linked minor-photo guidance also specifies a frontal, centred image, open eyes, even lighting and 80–85% face coverage.
Overseas, OCI and e-Visa are separate
Indian missions abroad use separate ICAO guidance that specifies 630×810 pixels for photograph capture or upload. OCI and Indian e-Visa applications use different square-photo specifications. Select the workflow that will process your application and confirm its current instructions before submitting.
Meeting the India upload file-size limit
Online India uploads accept roughly 10–250 KB. If your portal needs a smaller file, compress the finished photo to an exact size. Your image stays in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Do adults upload a photo with a Passport Seva application?
No. In the ordinary domestic fresh/reissue workflow, an adult's photo and biometrics are captured at the PSK/POPSK. Passport Seva's visit guidance says a photograph is not required.
Who needs the 35×45mm white-background print?
A child below four years. Passport Seva instructs that applicant to carry a recent 4.5×3.5cm colour photograph with a white background.
Where does the 630×810 pixel format apply?
It appears in the current ICAO guidance for passport applications through Indian embassies and consulates abroad. It is not an ordinary domestic adult PSK/POPSK upload size.
Can I reuse this photo for OCI or an Indian e-Visa?
Use the dedicated OCI or e-Visa preset instead. Both are square digital-photo workflows with specifications that differ from the under-four passport print.
What size is a passport photo for India?
A passport photo for India is 35×45mm. EasyPhoto sets this size automatically.
What background colour does a passport photo for India need?
Plain white (below-4 print and overseas ICAO guidance). The tool applies the correct colour for you.
What is the head size in a passport photo for India?
Your head should measure 36–38mm from chin to crown. We size it to that band and flag it if it's off.
Can I wear glasses or smile in a passport photo for India?
Glasses: discouraged. Expression: neutral preferred.
What file size does the India online passport upload need?
Online uploads typically accept 10–250 KB, so compress your photo to fit if needed.
Is the India passport photo maker free and private?
Yes. It's free, with no watermark, and processed entirely in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded.
Is a home-printed Indian passport photo accepted?
Ordinary adult applicants do not carry a print to the PSK/POPSK. For a child below four, Passport Seva requires a recent 45×35 mm white-background print; use the official minor-photo guidance and confirm the current application instructions.
